For some reason, our transatlantic cousins have managed to get it into their heads that nothing makes a better Christmas card than sending out an image of themselves in hideous outfits, dodgy poses, or just outright ridiculous scenarios. So, when we were mind-mapping ideas for our 2012 Christmas card here at Idealogy, we couldn't help but think that we should also join in with this age-old American tradition.
So that's exactly what we did!! The team responsible for delivering 'Operation Christmas Card' (original name eh!) set to work to ensure that we created our own take on this somewhat hideous (yet amusing) festive past time.
Dan and Anna were deployed to a well known, high street budget clothing store to source the worst Christmas jumpers and spangliest decorations they could find (and, apparently a Reindeer one-sie!) whilst Dave and Steve got to work trawling through the internet to find pictures and scenarios to use as inspiration.
After much debate, we decided that our image should remain slightly more traditional and family orientated.
So we decided the below pic should be our inspiration!
Before we knew it, the day was upon us. The top room was decorated to perfection and a spread to end all spreads was laid on (ok, it was more like a few festive sandwiches, mince pies and mulled wine from M&S, but allow us some artistic license!) and everyone was filled with pure joy at the sight of their attire for the day!
We enlisted the help of a superb photographer and great friend of all at Idealogy, Charlie Ross from Monitoba, and, in what seemed like moments, but was probably a lifetime, the camera was clicking away whilst we pulled a few crackers, fiddled with our baubles and raised a toast to the coming year. We're currently in post-production and, if the rumours are to be believed, it's all looking good. And the end result? Well, maybe you'll be lucky enough to receive one and see it for yourself!! In the meantime, have a look through some of the "behind the scenes" shots below.
Merry Christmas! The Idealogy Family
A taste of what we wore
