Discover your own App-sonality

Here’s an experiment we ran at Idealogy just recently, and it’s really fun and straightforward.

Take a screen grab of your iPhone home  screen, show it to a friend, a colleague or a third party and let them give you a summary of your personality, based on the way you display and organise your apps. Like all things ‘psycho’, sometimes it’s bang-on and sometimes it’s way off. But it’s strangely compelling, and a good way to start an argument.

Go on! You know you want to!

ANNA

The Devil is in the detail

A girl who only pauses for the briefest moment to reflect – then it’s back to staying informed, and capturing the important bits. But she still needs to remind herself about where she is, and what the weather will be like while she’s there - the little things that add up to the big picture.

Know your place!

…and know where to find the facts about it. This man is all about being in the right place – just not necessarily at the right time, because occasionally he needs to get access to something by unconventional means. Other than that, he leads his life with pinpoint accuracy and a very long list.

CHARLOTTE

She’s got your number…

Here’s a lady who has it all worked out – dates, stocks & shares and a calculator. What more do you need to know about someone who spends his or her life with numbers?

Getting your priorities right!

This man has an orderly feel to his world – but is it just a veneer? Someone who has 5 weather apps, 9 utilities and a converter plainly likes to keep their information compartmentalized but just look at the Reminders and the number of unanswered emails – he’s on a knife edge!

SIMON D

All the ingredients – none of the flavour!

There’s nothing remotely ‘sticky’ about these apps, portraying a person who is either at odds with the technology, struggling to comprehend social grouping – or just old! Redundant apps, a pathetic attempt at filing Utilities and a slavish regard for SKY. He’s squeezing all the juice he can from his monthly TV subscription. But he loves his dog!

IT never rains…

How do you get 24 nuns in a Mini? Sorry, what I meant to say was “how do you get 36 apps on one iPhone screen”. Live and breathe Mac culture is the answer and understand how to group functions and functionality. That’s an IT person for you, and someone who likes to keep his life very much in order.

Shining a light on a busy social life

Here's a man whose social life is right up front – and he likes to keep his calendar and his social opportunities in balance - but the strains of such a life are evident. He needs a map and a torch to be able to find his way home and to highlight the keyhole when he gets there at 4 in the morning. The reminders are to apologise to the neighbours.
