Where’s Your Work? Part 5

Well, it’s that time of year again. Students are returning to campus like the proverbial bulls in china shops, overflowing with creative ideas. So for their benefit – and that of all creatives out there – here’s our pick of the best portfolio sites…

Carbonmade (www.carbonmade.com)

It’ll cost you… Nothing if you can make yourself shine in 35 images, across 5 projects. Any more than that, and you’ll have to pay $12 a month, for up to 500 images across 50 projects.

Pros in Brief. Well, one biggie is the site’s built in “talent pool”, allowing outside users to search for designers, photographers and kissograms (okay, not the last one!) without having to wade through masses of irrelevant folios. It brings the creative and the client closer together. Oh, and it supports a range of multimedia content, meaning your print and video ads can sit nicely on the same page without having a pixilated Barney!

Room for Improvement? It’s all good and well being traceable through a simple search, but how many people really know about Carbonmade? Another key issue is of course the price. By the looks of their pricing, uploading video comes under the jurisdiction of their paid contract. Such a shame – the free version is meager at best (it’s even titled “Meh” on the carbonmade site…)
