Don’t forget your birthday cakes you TWIT

Did you celebrate? Did you remember? Did you even know?

It was the 5th birthday of Social Networking game-changer Twitter this week, and I’ll bet you didn’t even have a party, did you?

Rude.

Truth be told, neither did we, it didn’t seem important enough really.
But actually, 5 years is a big deal in online terms, and even bigger in fashionable, social, site-terms. But with in excess of 50 million tweets EVERY DAY, and 5 years under it’s belt you’ve got to think, surely they’ll be here for ever now?

It’s been so long since the world has seen such a revolution in communicating; perhaps the last time was the 5th birthday of emails, Skype or SMS messaging? But the sheer volume of tweets and facebook updates in recent (and unfortunately so disastrous) events as the first and foremost method of letting friends and family know you’re okay, shows it’s here, it’s working for the masses, and it isn’t going away.

So keep an eye out because about this time next year there’ll be a 6th birthday, and this time let’s try and remember, because it IS a big deal, and we should get cakes in…

… Mmm cakes.
