I TOOK THAT... and it rocked!

The fastest selling tour in UK history, 85,000 lucky ticket holders, a £15m production cost, 5 very happy band members and… a 60ft mechanical man.
What a night!

In the true sense of the word this really was an 'awesome' jaw-dropping show.
With amazing set design, sensational costumes, tight choreography and stunning pyrotechnics it was almost too overwhelming when TAKE THAT took to the stage and actually sung.

After a relaxed and understated entrance Gary, Jason, Mark and Howard performed their greatest hits, building to a fantastical version of ‘Shine’ in the style of Alice in Wonderland with the boys riding giant caterpillars!

Not such a simple entrance for Robbie. He came bursting onto the stage owning it from the first moment he uttered the immortal words ‘Let Me Entertain You’. As you’d expect the audience were treated to a high-energy mix of ego and cheeky wit, but added to it, a strange sense that he was genuinely humbled to be there. ‘Angels’ sung by Robbie and 85,000 backing singers was something to behold.

Next came the most incredible part of the show. The band appeared, together surrounded by gymnastic dancers suspended high above the stage and as water cascaded down, the whole band sung ‘The Flood’. They were then lowered to the stage in cranes as Robbie, ever the showman, swan dived to the ground. This was followed by a few songs from the new album before a 60ft mechanical man moved forward carrying the boys in its palms as they sang ’Never Forget’ – yes I did get goose bumps at that point! ‘No Regrets’ and ‘Relight My Fire’ made up the finale and as Gary sang ‘Eight Letters’ the whole band went into the crowd at the front to say some hellos.

Progress 2011 was the fastest selling tour in UK history, and with 8 sold-out nights at Wembley, that beats Oasis and The Rolling Stones. For you ‘non-believers’ out there they were good, really good and what’s stayed with me even a few days on is just how humble they seemed. Despite all the hype and hysteria they appear to be truly chuffed to be together again in the original line up for the first time in 16 years. 5 mates having fun.

So was it really the best ticket in town? – oh god yeah and even the hubby agreed!
